Oman’s healthcare system has undergone remarkable development in the last 5 years, driven by government investments and a commitment to improving health infrastructure. With a population of approximately 5 million, Oman leads a well-developed healthcare system that aims to provide high quality healthcare services. The Ministry of Health (MOH) serves as the principal healthcare regulator & provider, responsible for the supervision and overall management of the healthcare system in Oman.

Oman’s healthcare system is composed of both public and private sectors that operate to meet the needs of the population. The public healthcare infrastructure is the cornerstone of Oman’s healthcare delivery, accounting for 80% of the healthcare system and is funded by the government. Healthcare is provided free of charge to Omani nationals, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens, and expats working in the
government sector. Services include primary, secondary, and tertiary care delivered through a robust network of regional health centers, district hospitals, and national hospitals.
